Baby's 1st Blanket

Now that I've fully accepted, and even started getting excited about Baby being another boy, I've wanted to make him his own special things.

The first one I'll show you is the Faux Chenille Baby Blanket I made by using the tutorial found at MADE

Seriously, if you haven't tried one of Dana's many awesome tutorials, please do yourself a favor and head over NOW and get started.

I pretty much followed all of Dana's instructions.  I did not use the adhesive spray (too lazy to drag everything outside).  And I mixed up my fabrics a bit - 3 layers of cotton (one argyle, a coordinating circle pattern and solid white) , one of super soft flannel.  I placed the flannel on top because I wanted the softest layer to be against Baby's skin.

Here are pics of my progress:
Oh yes, I sewed rows upon rows of stitches.
My husband asked what would possess me to do that.
I answered that it was definitely a labor of love!

Then I cut between each of those rows and rows of stitches.
This took over 3 hours!!!
And caused some major hand cramping.

Woo hoo, the binding is on - seeing a glimpse of the finished project!

Awe!  There it is!  My newest addition's 1st baby blanket!
It's worth every minute I spent making it.
I love the way the circle pattern shows through, too!

This is how snuggly soft it is after only one washing - and it will only get better over time!

Will be MIA

We've got some sad family issues to deal with this week, so my boys and I are leaving town.  That means no posting from me, and probably not much reading from my favorite bloggers, either.  I'll get back into the swing of things as soon as we get back - I've got some great summer fun posts in the works.

Baby #4 is a......

Saturday morning we went to my 4D ultrasound at one of those little clinics.
We got some super cute images of the baby - sucking its thumb, playing with its hands, crossing its ankles.

Sucking left thumb

And the ultrasound tech warned me that it's early, but she thinks it may be another boy.
Wow.
Four boys.
Not at all what we were expecting.
Not even close.

She said that there is definitely still a chance that this could be a girl - the angle was bad, we only got one potty shot, and it IS early after all.

But I'll be honest - I cried.
A lot.
A whole lot.

Don't get me wrong, I love my little boys.  And I'd love to have another son.
But I'm fairly certain that this baby is the last baby I'll ever have.
And the dream of having a daughter is pretty well crushed.

You can only guess the number of cute little dresses, booties, hair bows, ruffle butt onesies, and cloth diapers, and soft baby dolls I've been dreaming of sewing.

Yesterday I only cried a little.
And today I may not cry at all.

I'm very excited to hold, and nurse, cuddle and kiss another sweet baby - whether a daughter or a son.
And I, as always, am shocked at how much I can already love someone that I've never met.
As the kicks get harder, and his little personality grows, so will my adoration.

Who knows, maybe someday God will grant me the daughter I long for.
But if not, I think I'm one hell of a boy mom - and that's something to be happy for, too!

Pink or Blue?

Tomorrow is the day I've been waiting for.
Saturday morning I'll load up my clan and head to one of those 4D ultrasound clinics.
I'll bare my growing belly with the hope they can tell me if I'm finally getting my daughter or if I'll be blessed with another son.

So what do you think it'll be?
