Now that I've fully accepted, and even started getting excited about Baby being another boy, I've wanted to make him his own special things.
The first one I'll show you is the Faux Chenille Baby Blanket I made by using the tutorial found at MADE
Seriously, if you haven't tried one of Dana's many awesome tutorials, please do yourself a favor and head over NOW and get started.
I pretty much followed all of Dana's instructions. I did not use the adhesive spray (too lazy to drag everything outside). And I mixed up my fabrics a bit - 3 layers of cotton (one argyle, a coordinating circle pattern and solid white) , one of super soft flannel. I placed the flannel on top because I wanted the softest layer to be against Baby's skin.
Here are pics of my progress:
Oh yes, I sewed rows upon rows of stitches.
My husband asked what would possess me to do that.
I answered that it was definitely a labor of love!
Then I cut between each of those rows and rows of stitches.
This took over 3 hours!!!
And caused some major hand cramping.
Woo hoo, the binding is on - seeing a glimpse of the finished project!
Awe! There it is! My newest addition's 1st baby blanket!
It's worth every minute I spent making it.
I love the way the circle pattern shows through, too!
This is how snuggly soft it is after only one washing - and it will only get better over time!
